The radio network announced the results of their 2014 awards this weekend.
One Direction reigned supreme in the Best Group section of the fan-voted poll.
Capital FM commented:
“It was one of the toughest categories to win out of them all but the 1D boys’ fans didn’t disappoint as they celebrated yet another amazing year in pop.”
The British-Irish boyband also got the Best Tour/Live Show prize.
Singer songwriter Ed Sheeran has penned a number of tracks that have ended up on One Direction’s albums, however, there’s one song that wasn’t simply a track that Ed couldn’t use and was in fact specifically written by him for 1D.
And that track is ‘18’, which is of course on One Direction’s latest album, FOUR.
Speaking to Yahoo and also to Capital FM, Ed explained, “I wrote it from their [One Direction’s] perspective,” before going on to say, “It is the first record I have specifically written for them.
“The other ones [I gave to them] were my records that just didn’t make it only my album, but [with] this one, I had a meeting with them…
“The day after I wrote it, I sent it over, and they sound great on it!”
Pop stars including One Direction and Adele have had their emails hacked.
Their private conversations have reportedly been stolen by the same hackers who targeted Sony’s Hollywood film studios and delayed the release of The Interview.
Details of the stars’ contracts and demands are believed to be among the information stolen by the hackers – who have been traced to Pyongyang, North Korea by the FBI – and it could cause ‘embarrassment’ for the singers.
Media analyst Mike Raia said: ‘The potential embarrassment and turmoil would be as devastating as that which has crippled Sony’s movie-making arm and effectively killed the general release of ‘The Interview’.’
There is also a worry about the early release of music from some of the biggest artists at Sony Music – who own major record labels including Columbia, RCA and Epic – including David Bowie, Rita Ora and Beyoncé.
Mike added to the Daily Star on Sunday:
‘Music files intended forrelease at a later date could be released on the net where fans would download them for free. We’re talking about hundreds of millions of dollars in lost revenue. It could end up as a financial disaster so enormous that the company, at least in its present form, might not even survive.’
Harry Styles has revealed that he will be going alcohol-free during the festive season.
The One Direction star is set on going on a health kick over the Christmas holidays which will see him abstaining from drinking and eating junk food.
Harry informed the Daily Mirror of his plans:
“I’m on the wagon for fitness reasons. I work out really hard and the quickest way to see results is to cut out the booze – especially wine and beer.”
Harry admitted that he has chosen a tough time of year to cut back on his favourite treats:
“I usually have a vodka tonic but I’m totally dry for Christmas. It’s the worst timing because everyone’s partying but I’m testing myself. Ice-cream is off limits too – I love it so much.”
The singer also recently revealed that he sometimes can’t stop himself from thinking about food even whilst on stage.
One Direction are set to enjoy some well-deserved downtime over the festive period and heartthrob Liam Payne has revealed that he is in charge of the cooking in his house this year.
During a recent appearance on ‘The Tonight Show’, host Jimmy Fallon asked the lads about their Christmas plans and member Payne explained that he’s in charge of making lunch for everyone although he will leave dessert duty to his girlfriend, Sophia Smith:
“Well, I think we’re all just going to spend some time with our families honestly. We’ve been on the road for what seems like quite a long time now so it’ll be nice to sit at home with the family. Christmas dinner… I’m cooking this year as well! I’m not really into the puddings, I’ll let the missus deal with the puddings.
Harry Styles then piped up and talked about the food that makes up a traditionally British Christmas dinner, adding that he prefers some of America’s Thanksgiving dishes:
“I wish we did… you guys do yams with the marshmallows on top. We don’t do that.”
Happy birthday, Louis Tomlinson!! As Louis, one fifth of the hugely successful boyband One Direction, celebrates turning 23, 1D Family takes a look at what the stars have in store for Louis…
This is what Louis, who is a Capricorn, can be expecting today:
What does Santa get for Christmas? A lot of people traditionally leave out mince pies and port; are they just giving him a risk of indigestion and a king-sized hangover? Perhaps that’s why we never hear from him during the rest of the year. It probably takes him that long to sleep it all off. And in so far as your own life lately, has been one long round of giving when we stop to think about all the allowances you have been asked to make, what does that say about what you can expect? Actually, plenty. All of it good.
Louis Tomlinson’s career began on the small screen, as an extra in Fat Friends and Waterloo Road. As a secondary school student in Doncaster, Louis took the lead role in the school production of Grease, and it was here that he made the decision to audition for The X Factor – a decision that would change his life.
In 2010, Louis joined hundreds of thousands of hopefuls at The X Factor auditions. At bootcamp Louis failed to make it through to judge’s houses, but Nicole Scherzinger, one of the judges on the hit ITV show that year, decided to team Louis up with four other failed singers to create a new boyband – and the new group, One Direction, qualified for the groups category.
The band came third in the series, but have without a doubt gone on to become the most successful act from The X Factor in its 14-year history. Their four albums have all broken records and topped the charts around the globe, and Louis is responsible for helping write many of the band’s best songs – including Story Of My Life and Fireproof.
The band are incredibly close, but in May 2014 Louis’s bandmate Liam Payne had to apologise to their fans after Louis and Zayn Malik were caught on camera joking about marijuana while smoking a rolled up cigarette. Louis also shares an apartment with his other band mate, Harry Styles.
A huge football fan, Louis has played for the reserve teams, and in June 2014 the 23-year-old completed a takeover of Doncaster Football Club.
By now, all you Directioners have picked your favorite tracks off One Direction‘s FOUR.
But how do you choose your fave if you pretty much co-wrote every song on the album? Well, Jamie Scott, who had a hand in helping pen nine of the band’s songs, had a very hard time. Of course, he couldn’t pick just one.
“I would say that my two favorite songs were actually “Fireproof” because it harks back to an era of music that I absolutely love,” Jamie told MTV News, “And I would say another one of my favorite songs — I mean, I like all of them to be honest because I like most things I write — but “Fool’s Gold” is a really special to me.”
“Fool’s Gold” is all about loving the wrong person, and what makes it special for Scott is how it took shape. Jamie hooked up with songwriter MoZella, who co-wrote Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball,” to create the song, but he originally didn’t know what to do with it. Thankfully, Harry Styles walked in and made it come to life.
“I was in the studio with Harry, kind of just recording vocals, and it happened so quick,” Jamie recalled. “It took on this amazing sound and meaning for me as a writer on this album.”
One Direction upped their cute factor on Monday night when they stopped by “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” and slipped on their Christmas sweaters.
Niall, Harry, Louis, Liam and Zayn each donned an Xmas jumper, picked up a toy instrument — at Fallon’s request — and joined the late-night host and The Roots to sing their rendition of “Santa Claus Is Coming To Town.” Mini-saxophones were tooted, yellow bananas were shaken, drums were pounded, solos were sung.
