Liam Payne met with Jennifer Lopez recently to see about writing songs for her, Gossip Cop confirms. They’re told the meeting took place in Los Angeles, where he “played her some new music.” It’s unclear, at this point, where it will lead.
With “American Idol” winding down and her “All I Have” show in full swing in Las Vegas, Lopez is looking to record new music, and among those she’s met with is Payne. As Gossip Cop reported even before One Direction announced its year-plus hiatus, Payne told a British radio show that he prefers writing music to performing.
“I like writing songs for different artists, and crafting a song is a really beautiful thing to do,” he said last August, adding, “I much prefer doing that sort of thing.”
Gossip Cop hears Payne, who set up his own publishing company, Hampton Music Limited, is already working on more music to present to Lopez and other musicians. We’re told he’s very focused on meeting with artists for whom he would like to write songs.
One Direction boss Simon Cowell isn’t worried about Zayn Malik’s candid comments about the band since quitting in March 2015.
In an interview with Billboard magazine earlier this month, Zayn admitted he isn’t close to his former band mates Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Niall Horan. He also revealed he wasn’t a fan of their recent single Perfect.
Zayn told the mag:
“I had every intention of remaining friends with everybody, but I guess certain phone numbers have changed and I haven’t received calls from a lot of people. I’ve reached out to a few of them and not got a reply. Certain people have pride issues, but it’s stuff you overcome in time.“
Simon told Yahoo Celebrity:
“I’m not interested in a single word he says, but I am interested in what he sings.”
Speaking at the London auditions for Britain’s Got Talent series 10 today (22 January), he added:
“I’ve heard it, it’s good, he’s going to do well.”
Shifting his focus back to the remaining One Direction boys, who have now begun their hiatus, Simon told Yahoo Celebrity he felt “emotional” watching the music video for their final single History.
“I just saw the video last night and, God, it makes you feel emotional. When that drops you’re going to see another lease of life for that record. I did get emotional watching it.”
An online report alleging One Direction’s current hiatus is actually a permanent break isn’t true.
A source close to the band tells Billboard:
“Nothing has changed regarding hiatus plans for the group, and all will be revealed in due time from the band members’ own mouths.”
In exciting news for fans, another single off Made in the A.M. is expected, although no exact timetable has been revealed.
The guys are mostly keeping busy on their hiatus. Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne recorded a guest spot for Family Guy, Liam Payne hit the studio to sing and rap, while Niall Horan is taking it easy.
Currently really enjoying doing nothing ….just chilling out for a while is good .

One Direction were music’s biggest ticket sellers in 2015, with more than 2.3 million people attending their concerts, it has been revealed.
According to Pollstar’s worldwide ticket sales report, a total of 2,364,390 tickets were sold for 1D’s tour last year. Swift was a close second on 2,273,328, with Ed Sheeran a distant third with 1,578,003.
Foo Fighters were fourth on 1,365,006 and country singer Kenny Chesney fifth at 1,363,190. Rounding off the top 10 were U2, Fleetwood Mac, Luke Bryan, Zac Brown Band and Maroon 5.
Also making the top 20 were Def Leppard, Ariana Grande, 5 Seconds Of Summer, Dave Matthews Band, Imagine Dragons, Garth Brooks, Shania Twain, Florida Georgia Line, Madonna and The Rolling Stones.
The band will appear in an upcoming episode of Family Guy, according to Entertainment Weekly, who reports their part will involve “a campfire scene with Stewie, who tells them a scary story involving non-skinny jeans.” While all four guys’ animated images will appear, only Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson recorded their voice for the episode, per EW. The episode will air in May.
This may be a bit too much of a deep cut, but when Directioners think ‘campfire scene,’ they likely think of the moment from the band’s documentary, This Is Us, which found the then-quintet talking about their hopes for the future and their time together in the band. It’ll be interesting to see if Family Guy spoofs that moment specifically.
For now, reminisce below.

In the number one spot? Harry Styles’ first message back in March 2015 once Malik announced he was quitting the band. Twitter is also dubbing this the Golden Tweet of the year.
All the love as always. H
— Harry Styles. (@Harry_Styles) March 26, 2015
Malik himself finishes in the number two spot for the year, when he shared his love for his former bandmates’ new single, “Drag Me Down” and fans happily decided they didn’t have to worry about any kind of feud.
Proud of my boys the new single is sick. Big love. 🙂 x
— zayn (@zaynmalik) August 1, 2015
The number three spot is also dominated by 1D love, in this case Liam Payne’s celebration of five years of 1D craziness. Pause for a second as you realize that the lads have been dealing with worldwide fan love & outrage for half a decade.
Wowwwww 5 years 5 boys what an amazing journey I couldn't thank you all ever enough and thank you Louis Niall Harry and zayn for everything

President Obama (not currently a member of One Direction) comes in at number four with his tweet supporting the Supreme Court’s legalization of gay marriage in June. But after that brief foray into serious issues, we’re back with One Direction at number five.
Our fans support really has been a different class ! Huge love to you guys !!
— Louis Tomlinson (@Louis_Tomlinson) May 7, 2015
Tomlinson is followed by King Salman of Saudi Arabia as well as Kanye West, and then 1D comes roaring back, this time with Niall Horan, cute and talented Irishman, at number eight. That’s right: All the 1D boys managed to get themselves into the Top 8 Most Retweeted messages of the year.
